Problem: Intermittently, the Windows Aero turns off and the display goes to "basic mode". I can just turn Aero off, but I would prefer not to. Thank you for your assistance. -Dave Drivers: All updated. System: I have twin nvidia gts 450 graphics cards running four monitors. Running windows 64 bit with 9GB ram, on a i7 950.
Is there a such thing as Windows 7 no shadow themes to get? I can't stand the annoying white and blue shadows on the aero theme. That is ONLY thing I don't like about the aero. The other themes on personalization you can't do border, start menu and taskbar colors.
Yesterday I hit a wrong button and lost my home page tool bar. I was able to recover everything but sound for the entire computer. Where do I go to restore this function? *original title - how do I turn the sound back on for my computer*

It's totally out of the way in the right corner on the taskbar. Can I move it back next to the start button? I often use the Show desktop before I start a new program, with the new functionality I have to zig zag with my mouse from one corner of the screen to the other corner. I hate this. Otherwise windows 7 is great.
original title: hiding desktop icons Hiding desktop icons on Windows 7 seems a common enough topic in these forums but I have yet to find a solution that works. The standard response is to right click on the desktop, click on view and then remove the checkmark from "Show Desktop Icons". For this to work I must go through the procedure not once but twice. After signing off and later signing back on I must repeat this procedure. The Windows tutorial gives the impression that removing the check from "Show Desktop Icons" will keep these icons from appearing until you put the checkmark back. This is not happening for me. What crucial link in this enigma am I missing? Many thanks.
Hello! I am new to this forum. I hope I can get some info. I am running windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The aero peek and trasparency features stop working after the computer wakes up from sleep. If I reboot the system it will work with no problems until the next sleep. I have tried the windows troubleshooter with no solution. I have re-installed windows and updated graphics drivers (Radeon HD 3200) I am running an Hp system with an AMD Phenom 9650quad core proceesor 2.3 ghz. 8.0 ghz ram. This issue just doesn't make sense. Why would it stop working only after wake up? Any help would be great. Thanks for your time!
original title: Basic or Classic Windows 7 theme is presententing worse performance than Aero theme when running PowerPoint. What could be happening? Hi, I use Basic theme by default. Until today I could run PowerPoint great. I don't know why, but PPT slide show is now presenting some jagged delay when animations and transitions are in action. I changed to Aero theme and after that PPT became normal again. What could be happening? Ps.: today I made some tests using ZoomIt and AeroZoom third-part software. But I disable/uninstall both and the problem still happening when Windows is set to Basic or Classic theme. Strange! Thanks in advance!
Is it possible to remove the minimize button down in the right corner in windows 7?
