Computer Freezes During Memory DiagnosticWindows 10
I tried to find the answer to my question in another post but did not.
1. My problem is, first, that my computer seems to be freezing during normal operation: Specifically, after three minutes or so, when the screen turns off, I cannot get it to turn on again by using the mouse or keyboard--I can't get it to "wake up" again. The screen is functioning properly, so this is definitely a computer issue. I had to hold the power button down to shut it off. Afterward, it seemed to boot up just fine, and I was able to use it like normal, but I experienced the same freezing issue again when the screen shut off.
2. Currently, however, my computer is stuck in a memory diagnostic. I understand that this is a common problem (the 21% problem), but after 45 minutes or so of no activity on screen whatsoever, I pressed Esc to try to abort the diagnostic, which did absolutely nothing. Now, eight hours later, the process is still frozen.
MAJOR QUESTION: Is it safe to hold down the power button to turn off the computer at this point, while the computer is frozen in the middle of a memory test?
Sorry for the rookie question. Any help is appreciated.
