Being trying for two days to install Windows 10. I'm currently using Windows 8.1 on an Alien Ware machine. I spent two and a half hours on the phone last night to a Microsoft agent in India of all places. I allowed him to use LogMeIn to take control of my machine. Big language barrier! But the bottom line is he was unable to do anything that I hadn't already tried. He ended the call by advising me to wait 48 hours and then "try again". Forgive me for sounding pessimistic but 48 hours or 48 years...How does that change anything? Any help in English would be greatly appreciated!
A couple of days ago I lost the Windows 10 upgrade icon and IE11. However the $Windows.~BT has already been received. Can I upgrade to Windows 10 (from 7) without IE11? I tried already all solutions in all threads to update to IE11 from IE8 but to no avail.
I do not want to waste anyone's time but... Like many folks in this forum, I upgraded from 8.1 to 10. It was wonderful for a couple weeks before the start menu and other features stopped working or disappeared. I have been reading all this posts people have done to try and find a resolution to these issues. It looks like resolution is not easy or swift and I certainly am not terribly computer savvy so will not attempt some of these "fixes". Am wondering if there is somewhere we can send feedback to Microsoft? I can not find anywhere to get free live chat help from Microsoft and wonder if they even care about these problems. I would think they'd want to fix them, but am not sure in today's world where it seems these mammoth companies have little concern for customer service. Am so frustrated right now.... does anyone think Windows 10 will improve anytime soon? I think I miss XP - ha ha! Of course if someone has found a windows 10 fix for the start menu, Cortana and Edge features that a novice could complete, I am open to help. Thank you.
It advertised that I could set a date when I wanted to download Windows 10. But when I click the Windows 10 icon on my task bar, it begins to download immediately, not giving me the option to download at a later date. Where can I find that option?

Installed Windows 10 but now my computer will randomly freeze up. When I power it back on sometimes it will not even load and goes to blank grey screen, other times it will load all the way then freeze up, I power on again and sometimes I will get a message saying Windows 10 did not load properly - I have reset the computer hoping that would help but it is still doing the same thing. Sometimes it will take 4 or 5 times of it freezing up while loading for it to finally work. Please help, I really need my computer to work.
We bought my daughter a Dell laptop, with Windows 7 on it when she went off to college. She reported last week that the hard disk was failing. The hard disk is of course where the OS software is kept. As near as I knew, Windows came pre-installed, so I had no way to re-install Windows after I changed the disk. But I could create a USB flash drive of Windows 10, replace the hard disk, and then install Windows 10. I ran a "get product key from Registry" program before replacing the disk. In addition there is a Microsoft product sticker on the bottom of the laptop. The key from the registry program was entirely different from the one on the bottom. When I replaced the disk and re-booted with the USB flash drive to install Windows, neither key works. I figure the one on the bottom of the laptop is most right, but it is/was on the bottom of the laptop, so after 5 years it is pretty worn. As near as I can tell, the product key is J3MBG-8VC28-WVMRK-GGJ36-PKWTP but this does not work. Of Course the 8, 3, B could be 3, B, 8 and maybe an R is a K or a P is an R or a C a G or a J or the 6 could be a 3 B or 8 or the P is an 8 or a B. Maybe the C is a J or a Q or a G. I had a genuine Windows 7 from Dell, but the Disk failed and the choice of characters in a product key means a worn key becomes ambiguous. How do I get my Windows 10 validated? jim
I tried a post before and got an answer that I tried out. I was told to go ahead and run the troubleshooter and see if that started my keyboard. If that didn't work, run the device manager to delete the driver. I had already installed the latest version of the keyboard driver. None of this worked to get the keyboard to work. Previously I had been on the chat line for over six hours. Does anyone have any ideas? Better yet is there going to be a patch, fix or update to fix this? I have to go back to Win7 again because a laptop without a keyboard just doesn't work for me. And every time I repeat this upgrade it's just about an all day thing between the upgrade and troubleshooting so I won't be doing that anytime soon again.
I've successfully installed Windows 10 on my Win7 64bit laptop but there is no snipping tool in the 'Start' menu or in the 'All Apps'. I've searched the Microsoft website without success. Where can I download the Microsoft Snipping Tool from please? Al.
In my Windows 7 Home PC ( 32 bit), while upgrading to Windows 10, the downloading and installation were complete after taking a pretty long time. Subsequently, at the "Configuring the updates" stage, it failed and reverted back to my original Windows 7. The error code shown is - Windows 10 Preview fail "WindowsUpdate_C1900101 - 4000D Windows update encountered an unknown error " "WindowsUpdate_dt000". Request help to diagnose the problem and advice to sort it out.
