Windows 10 Data Usage

Windows 10

Recenly purchased a Lenovo Home Laptop and have experienced major Data Usage (20GB's) due to constant Windows 10 Upgrades and Installations. Lenovo seems to think its a Microsoft/Windows issue, even though Windows 10 was advertised as part of the purchasing package. After all this downloading (20 GB's) i can only see 2 items registered in the "View Installed Updates" section within the Program Features/Control Panel. Just wondering if this is a normal rate of Data Usage when operating Windows 10. Compared to Windows 7, which would take me a 6 - 12 months - to go through 20GB's of Data Usage/Downloading.

I've tried the following: Made sure docx in the File Types listIndex Properties and File Contents is checked.Rebuilt Index 3 timesChecked permissions on all the directories.Always search file names and contents is selected under Folder Options. TIA

WIndows 10: WSearch causing 30,000 millisecond timeouts on cold boots.

Windows 10

Hello, I bought a brand new computer with Windows 10 installed and it worked great until the 1607 update went through. Now, every time the machine cold boots (from full power off state) the boot time takes significantly longer. The original boot before the update, and any power-on system restart, takes about 10 seconds, tops, and most of that is entering my password. If I cold boot, after entering my password (a local password, not a microsoft account login) it sits on the logon screen for about 30 seconds, the screen will go black with only the cursor for another minute, then finally comes to the desktop. Upon checking the event viewer, the system kicks 4 errors: 3 of the event ID 7011: A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the WSearch service. 1 of event ID 10016: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919} and APPID {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169} to the user NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. The second error happens on every boot, whether it boots fast or not. Windows search service is already set (by Microsoft) to delayed startup in the services control panel. Obviously the additional time is accounted for in the 90,000 milliseconds of timeout on the WSearch service, but I can't figure out how to make it go away. Outlook is not installed, nor is any Microsoft office product other than OneNote, so the "Outlook with extensions" bug that I found here doesn't apply in this instance. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Dear Microsoft executives: it was a real classy move (Sarcasm included here free of charge) to make the online help link in the event viewer go to a generic sales site. Real nice. It really shows you care about the customer.

After upgrading over W10 my volume keys as well as many other won´t work.

Windows 10

My notebook came originally with Windows 7 OS. Due to some trouble with the HD my technician suggested for me to replace it. He offered me a HD that was in good shape though it was from another notebook, what I mean is that it wasn´t brand new.. I found no trouble in replacing my HD and agreed. At the same time my technician offered me to upgrade my windows over Windows 10 which also agreed. After both changes everything seems to be working well but my volume keys on my keyboard. I already tried with toggling function key + volume with no success. Any suggestions to recover my volume keys? Regards.

Installation with auto extract

Windows 10

We have a computer that is running into an error when we try to execute some installations, particularly driver software and some applications. The error is as follows: Could not create "C:usersusernameLOCALS~1temp" - unzip operation cancel. If it helps, the menu box that pops up is titled WinZip that has the error message within. I've tried using WinRar too. No luck. I am at a loss. I have reloaded the computer (wiped it clean) and the user is still having this error. It's using a Windows 7 64 bit OS and we use roaming profiles with a server. This user has admin rights to the computer as well. About the only I haven't tried was to recreate a brand new profile for the user, but I am at a loss on why that could solve this issue. I have attempted to locate this path, and I can not find it where it should be. This is the first time I ran into this issue and it has only just started coming up recently. About the only work around I have found is to be extracting the files and running the setup file within the executable, but there are some things that this work around won't do. Can anyone lend some advice to solve this issue?

Is It Alright To Run Both Windows Defender's And Kaspersky Internet Security's Real-Time Protection Together At The Same Time?

Windows 10

I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 installed on my PC and recently I got a notification saying Windows Defender needs to scan my PC. When I opened Windows Defender I saw that it's real-time protection is on. When I went to the settings and switched off Windows Defender real-time protection I got a message saying 'Both Windows Defender and Kaspersky Internet Security is turned off'. I clicked the message and a dialog box opened up(screenshot below). As it looks like the dialog box shows that Kaspersky Internet Security is turned off and Windows Defender is snoozed. When I click on the Kaspersky Internet Security option the 'Turn on' button is not available and when I click on Windows Defender the 'Turn on' button becomes available. Why is it like this? Should I just ignore the message or should I turn on Windows Defender real-time protection on along with Kaspersky Internet Security(Kaspersky can be seen in the taskbar saying it is protecting the computer)?

Why there is no oprion to join Windows 10 Insider Preview Enterprise 1607?

Windows 10

Hi folks! There is a problem: there is just no textbox with opportunity to join Windows Insider on Windows 10 Enterprise 1607? Here is the screenshot. I change telemetry level from 0 to 3 (from security to enchanced), allowed all connections in group policies, rebooted the PC, but still this option didn`t appear. What can you advise to do? There is only option for developers - "для разработчиков" in Russian, but there is no option windows insider.
