No Lock Screen Image until first click

Windows 10

Hello, Since updating Windows 10, when my computer locks I can't see the lock screen images, although--this is the funny part--I do see some links, like the question asking if I like the image, and I see the text (usually a single statement) about the image. There are a few other texts on the screen as well. It is only when I wake up the screen to input my password that the image becomes visible. I used to provide ample feedback on the image "like?" question, but now I really can't because I don't see the image. Thoughts on why I can't see the images? I've read several related posts but none has an answer which has provided the solution to the users.

Sudoku Malfunction

Windows 10

I usually play Microsoft Sudoku many times per week. Within the last week or so, the program suddenly freezes, and dumps me out. When I enter the game again, it continues to dump me out. I uninstalled the program and tried to re-install the program, but that did not resolve the problem. Same result. Very frustrating. Does anyone know a fix for this? Has anyone noticed this problem. It seems to have started after my last Windows 10 updates.

Windows 10 bug: Connected but no internet

Windows 10

Windows 10 has an extremely annoying bug. It effects multiple Windows 10 devices. 3 Laptops and a Tablet. My friend has also complained about the same issue on his Windows 10 laptop. Basically at random intervals a yellow exclamation mark will appear over the wifi icon in the systray and it will say connected to wifi but no internet. It only effects Windows 10 devices. I never see the problem on my xbox one, xbox 360, ps3, ps4, android tablets or linux. I thought the anniversary update would fix it but no it still happens. It's extremely annoying and it's making me start to hate Windows 10. I have recently bought a new router and it still happens with that. It's got to the point that I can't stand using Windows 10 any more. I have actually wiped Windows off one of my laptops and installed Linux on that. And my other 2 laptops now dual boots between linux and Windows and I rarely bother loading Windows on either. With linux my connection never goes down but with Windows it happens randomly. This bug has existed since Windows 10 was in Beta and I can't believe that MS hasn't bothered fixing it. So when are MS going to fix this?

Connected to wired router, internet works but no network connection

Windows 10

To make a long story even longer I rearranged my computer room, shut down my PC's and moved them out. When I put everything back together one PC(older non racing one) gave me the Windows 10 black screen. Tried tons of things but finally reset the computer. Got it back to login but then it wouldn't connect to the internet. I couldn't even get it to connect to the router through the browser even though the system tray icon said it was connected to Ethernet. Tried various things including a Network reset a couple of times. Since there was no change in the browser I look in File Explorer under Network where I saw other PC's and my router. I clicked on the router and it took me to the router login page where I logged in. Then it said connect me to the internet which I did and voila I'm on the internet. Weirdly the system tray icon says I'm not connected and has the red X on it. So I'm on the internet through my router but my PC won't connect to the network so basic updating stuff won't work. I've googled until I'm tired of it so I'm hoping one of the PC geniuses on here can help me. I can provide any specs you may need but not sure what you would need so far. The PC is hard wired to the router. Router is Western Digital and works fine with the other PC MY OS is Window 10 Pro Onboard Ethernet (Realtek) Any help is appreciated as I'm pulling my hair out. slui.exe is acting up when I moved hard drive to another tower

Windows 10

Background: I had an older dell model tower, an OptiPlex 755, running Win7 Pro x64 and it had some kind of internal hardware issue but I knew the hard drive was good so I moved the hard drive and some of the RAM from the old computer to a brand new one, an OptiPlex 3020. After I booted and updated all the drivers and what not, slui.exe is saying my copy of windows is not valid, even though the hard drive booted up just fine and has no other issues. When I try and activate windows with the current product key it says it's no good, which it worked just fine on the OptiPlex 755 and and now on the 3020 it thinks it's invalid? Questions: 1. Is slui.exe acting up because I transplanted the hard drive into a brand new tower? 2. Is there a way to contact Microsoft ascertain why this happened and to prove my product key is valid? 3. Can I just deactivate slui? I know for certain this product key is valid.

Shortcut functionality shortcommings

Windows 10

Background I archive my original digital photos and documents according to their provenance in various envelopes and boxes, but I need to be able to organize them differently for display and distribution online, or on other media, all without moving or copying the originals. Shortcuts are a convenient way to re-arrange them by subject, localities and families, and to link them to multiple display contexts, etc. all without disturbing the originals. The shortcut feature falls short when it comes to making copies of the originals for distribution. The Windows Shortcuts feature has the potential to be a very powerful tool. Unfortunately, it is missing some key functionality. It is as if the Shortcut feature was an after thought during its design. It lacks three very important features: 1) Copying originals via their shortcuts Currently, when I need to copy a display context to a media/cloud for distribution, from the Shortcuts, the only way I can copy the originals for distribution is to laboriously: Right click on the shortcut, select "Open file location" and copy the original to the distribution media. This is very awkward and very time consuming, especially when one must process hundreds of images. Solution The shortcut feature needs an option to "Copy Target" from the Right-Click menu. This would allow one to select one, some or all of the Shortcuts in a folder and copy all linked target files to a distribution media, just as one might do when working with the originals directly, without using shortcuts. 2) Refreshing Shortcut Thumbnails I can work with the original files via the shortcuts, such as editing a photo in Photoshop. But when I make changes to the target image, the shortcut's thumbnail does not get refreshed to reflect the new status of the image. After editing the original, I must select to "Open File Location" from the Shortcut, find the file, create a new shortcut and copy it back to the location of the older shortcut and request to replace the old one. This is a very awkward and time consuming process. Solution The shortcuts need an automatic Refresh feature to update the thumbnail to reflect changes to the original target images, when the originals are edited via the shortcut. 3) Windows Photo Gallery Extension Module (Windows Essentials) While the basic Photo Gallery an bring up the target files for viewing via a shortcut, oddly, extension application cannot work with Shortcuts to access the target for editing. Using this app, one can only work with the originals directly. Solution This application needs to be able to work with the originals via the shortcuts, just as if it work working with the originals directly. Community members, please like this posting to get MS to look at it and hopefully do something about it.
