I purchased a display model Acer laptop running Windows 10, from a Wal-Mart store, where the store had established a user or administrator account. After trying several password suggestions for the account "Walton" I was able to access the computer and set up my own Administrator account using my Microsoft account. Unfortunately, I did not record the"Walton" password at that time, but would now like to remove the Walton folder (computer still asks me to log in under "Walton" but no one in the store where I purchased the computer can supply me with the correct password). Since I am unable to remove "Walton" folder I surmise it is at a higher level of authority than mine. Is there an elevated command which I can use to remove all traces of "Walton"? FYI, under "User Accounts" in the Control Panel, only my account is listed - as Administrator. However, when I type "cmd" in the run menu, the command line is: C;//Users/Walton. ?? Thanks for your help.

I upgraded from Windows 8.1 Home to Windows 10, then from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Education. I setup Hyper-V, and got it all working, but now I am trying to activate Windows 10 Home in the virtual machine using the original Windows 10 Home product key, and it is not working. What should I do? Thank you all.
Amazon.com. 3 clicks into the site and it froze. Exactly the same result in a dozen other popular web sites. I have read dozens of pages of posts regarding edge being flawed, particularly the issue of freezing during use. I have followed all the various instructions from your experts with no positive results. "sfc SCANNOW"? Yes, several times. Clear all browsing data? Several times. My question? What can I do that will actually fix your problem? What can I do that will repair edge so it stops freezing? What can thousands of frustrated users do to be able to use edge? Is it a conflict with our internet security programs? I use Bitdefender Total; tell me what to do, what setting to change. Problem is that my wife likes it for some reason so I am stuck with trying to get it repaired for her. Prime Example: I was forced to use a different browser to post this. I tried to use edge to go to microsoft.com support but... it froze when I clicked "support". Page wouldn't load. Three attempts. Three crashes. So I finally opened another browser and it loaded instantly. A frustrating side effect in using this other browser is that an ad appears at the head of the browser window telling me that edge is wonderful and I should try it. Considering the levels you go to in pushing edge, it's a very frustrating bad joke. There are thousands of posts and apparently millions of users begging Microsoft to come to the table and fix this thing. If you want people to use edge, fix it!
I was having an issue with my Surface Book not applying GPO since late October. It didn't seem to be an issue with my user account; logging into another machine caused my GPO to apply just fine. In attempting to troubleshoot, we decided to pull my laptop from the domain and rejoin it. After pulling it and rebooting, I'm no longer able to login with any local accounts. And it's not that the passwords aren't working; i can't get any login boxes to show up that show me to even enter the local admin account username and password! All i can attempt to login with is my domain account that won't let me login because it's not on the domain anymore. I would try safe mode except i have bit locker turned on and i can't find my key at the moment. How can i get a login prompt so i can log in with a local admin account?!
I have Toshiba laptop with a touchscreen. I am running the current version of Win 10. The touchscreen stopped working. I was able to resolve it in the following manner. I ran the following steps: 1. Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard. 2. Type troubleshooting in the search box and then press enter. 3. Click hardware and sound and run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter. 4. Follow the On screen instructions. Once this is done, restart the computer and check the status. Everything was fine after the restart. The next day the problem was back. I ran the above procedure and it fixed it again. This keeps reoccuring. Any ideas. T
I've never had a problem but all of a sudden my laptop cannot access my network to see other computers and printers through Wi-Fi. Ethernet connection sees the other computers. Internet works fine. It also shows the laptop when I pull up the router settings. The homegroup is a desktop running Windows 7, the laptop is Windows 10. I haven't installed anything new. I did restructre my wires to clean things up. My modem has a port going straight to the wireless router. I'm stumped. Any help greatly appreciated. - Hopefully this information is useful Wi-Fi Status shows: IPv4 Internet IPv6 No network access Homegroup says there are none available on this network, just an option to create a new one Network Diagnostics couldn't identify something Under view network properties: Gateway and DNS servers are set to the router, Domain name, suffix, and suffix list are blank (not sure if that is normal). Connectivity is Connected to Internet / Connected to unknown network Troubleshooting the network gives: Windows Could not Automatically Detect Network's Proxy Settings I don't have any proxies set up Under Wi-Fi Status: IPv4 Connectivity - Internet, IP6V Connectivity - No network access - I've tried Network reset Unplugging the router Made sure IPv6 is enabled, network discovery, and printer discovery
Earlier today, my computer begun to act as if I had a horizontal scroll wheel that is pressed to the right (I don't have one), with webpages with a horizontal scroll bar automatically going to the right. No hardware or software changes had occurred prior to the issue, and it continues even when all external devices (mouse, keyboard, controller etc.) are disconnected. The right arrow key is behaving as normal (games that use right arrow key not moving without input), so it is not that, and I can change the speed of the scrolling in the scroll wheel settings. I have reinstalled all drivers to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Split from this thread. I wanted to go to the site ''ROBLOX.com'' (call me a big child i don't care), but the site cannot be reached Reloading page: tried several times Connection: is good, i can still access other sites Proxy server: well here's the thing, it says ''The connection was reset'', and checking proxy servers is an option, but we don't use any proxy servers and yesterday i could still access the site, could i get some help and possible answers with this please? I also have this problem. For a while, the browser works but then I get the " " warning. It seems that the first level will still work (i.e. google first page), but then it fails when I try to open a page. When I restart the computer it works for a while (hour or two) and then the same thing comes back. All sites are this problem and a similar warning comes with Edge. ***Post moved by the moderator to the appropriate forum category.***

My problem is that Windows Update will not work no matter what I try. It hasn't functioned properly for a long time in fact, so I simply started acquiring updates manually. Obviously I should have dealt with this before, but my previous attempts to fix were met with the same frustrating failures. Firstly, whenever I start Windows Update, the feature acts as if I have never used it, with a red warning icon, stating that the last time I checked for updates was "never". This is obviously incorrect as I can see updates have arrived, both by my own manual diligence, and by some mysterious happy coincidence that Windows 7 has decided I don't need to know about. When I "check for updates" as prompted, the warning icon changes from red to a yellow "!" telling me I have important updates ... but it doesn't download anything, or offer any lists of updates at all. Once it finishes "checking for updates" I will simply get the warning "Restart your computer to install important updates" with a yellow "!" icon and no other information. When I click to restart nothing installs, no updates come in, and this prompting repeats itself every single time I try. As in EVERY TIME. I occasionally see updates present on my "shutdown" button, and when I click to shutdown I can see THEY are downloading, but it's obviously not coming from windows update, and half of those updates now fail. My issues arriving from this malfunction are now to the point wherein I must fix it one way or another. Now I can't manually update anything for the most part. Most of the hot-fixes and patches I try to download and run, I now get a message "this update is not required" or it will run through an install only to say "update [x] was NOT installed", or else the install will just FAIL. This is obviously because I've missed important patching(s) at some point. For example, Visual C 2015 and IE11 will not install... they both fail every time. IE11 tells me to get updates in order to install, but when I try to acquire those updates I cannot. Please help me. I have tried all of the proposed solutions found here and elsewhere, and literally NOTHING has worked. I am still consistently seeing the yellow warning with a "restart your computer to install...." message, which does nothing but give me a perpetual frustration. It provides no updates at all. And I am still (occasionally) seeing my "shutdown" feature come up with updates, which seems to include IE11, which always fails. This has been plaguing me forever, and all attempts to fix it have proven futile. Please help! Running Windows 7 Professional 64, with Service Pack 1.
