I recently updated my laptop to the new Windows 10 system. Since this has happened, I am unable to access the files on my Iomega external hard drive. The Iomega icon has been added to my desktop, however, when I open the computer folder, the Iomega drive (which is my "I" drive), is not listed and I can not access anything in this drive. Wondering how this can be fixed?
Windows 10 file explorer recognizes my Nikon D7000, shows the memory cards (2 cards) in the camera but will not show the photo's on the cards. jpg photos. Show Hidden Files is checked. I also cannot copy and paste a photo or create a new folder onto the cards. Nikon's transfer program works fine see's and transfers the photos to the computer. How to fix this problem with File Explorer. Also I have tried this on 3 computers, with two cameras the other camera being a Nikon 5100 with same problem. Nikon 610 works fine with file explorer.
Since switching over to Windows 10 (I won't call it an "upgrade" since so far it seems like more of a "downgrade") my files will only open in read only mode. I've tried a bunch of suggestions including delinking One Drive, messing around with trying to change owner permissions, etc. Nothing has worked. I've done reset, online Office repair. This is extremely aggravating. I had chat and a phone tech both just hang up on me without even saying bye after their simplistic and desultory attempts to help me. A new low in customer service. GRRRR. Any ideas welcome.
Can someone please tell me where I can download a free PDF reader for my desktop computer. One did come up on this site but when I clicked the icon to download, nothing happened. I did not want to download from the internet in case it was not a trusted site. When Windows 10 was downloaded it came with a PDF reader but after a short time it stopped working and the supplier wanted me to pay, which I thought was nothing less than blackmail. It is very annoying as I have quite a few PDF files and they will not open now. HELP PLEASE!!
All my existing files in Word Starter now open as "Read Only" documents to which I cannot make any changes nor am I able to find the "read only" button so I can click on it to enable editing. In addition I am unable to save new documents to the system. When I trr to do so in my documents file I get the following message - "You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?" When I click "yes" to that question nothing happens.
I'm evaluating Windows 10 for my company to check compatibility with our systems and general user experience. We're a small business, and we're presently running a mix of Win7 and Win8.1 machines, all running Pro and joined to our domain. The two machines I've upgraded to Win10 Pro both have the same issue: File Explorer, when opened, has a loading bar that never finishes. It displays the text "Working on it..." in the file panel, and a very small tree in the folder panel, with just "Quick access," "Desktop," and "This PC" entries. Many controls in the ribbon are also greyed out, including Options, Open command prompt, and the layout controls. Possibly related, the recycle does not behave as expected. Even with files in the bin, the "Empty recycle bin" option is greyed out both in the ribbon and in context menu from the desktop icon. I can only fully delete files by selecting them within the and deleting them again. I've searched around for people with similar problems, but I found only one thread describing this issue, and with a preview build. That thread contained a work-around (start->run->c:) which usually works for me, but which brings up a very quirky File Explorer window, with a folder pane that only shows folders I have actually navigated to using the file pane. It is workable, but I can't ask a normal user to live with this experience, so our upgrade plans are on hold until I can get this resolved. Based on advice in another thread, I ran sfc /scannow, but it didn't find any integrity violations. Has anyone encountered anything like this? None of my personal machines, including a Surface Pro 3 now running Win10 Pro, are having this issue. Thanks for your time/help!
In Windows 10 new MAIL app, if I get a message that I want to save into one of my Documents Folders (for instance, I get an email confirmation for a hotel reservation and want to save it in a folder of "Trip Info") can I just right click and hit Save As and select Email message?
everything is working ok on my computer since installing windows 10 except my documents I can open my documents (which havent been changed recently) and I can scroll down through approx 20 files but when I continue to scroll down the computer shuts down and automatically and restarts at the same point every time . I have tried 9-10 times , just goes to auto restart every time If anyone has had a similar problem and found a solution please let us know ?????
After the update to Windows 10 when i plug in my SD card into the card reader to transfer pictures and then put the SD card back in the Nikon the camera wont turn on. If i remove the SD card the camera turns on normaly and i have also tried this with another SD card with same result. My guess is Windows writes some files(hidden files i have found were: NIKON001.dsc file and System Volume Information folder which contains IndexerVolumeGuid ) which nikon recognises as something dangerous or cant process them and prevents the camera to turn on. My question is: Is there a way to turn off Windows 10 writing anything on the SD cards?
