How to upgrade from Windows 7 (Non-Genuine) to Windows 10?

Windows 10

This is a multi-pronged question, so please read the whole post before you respond.  :)

I have a *coughcough* pirated version of Windows 7 Ultimate currently.  I'd like to upgrade to Windows 10 at some point, legitimately.  Now there's a few different questions I must consider:

1.  How do I perform this said upgrade?  Will I have to do a clean install, or can I still do Windows Upgrade (doesn't delete files or anything) as long as I have a Windows 10 Product Key?

2.  Does my Product Key for Windows 10 need to match my earlier version of 7?  What I mean: Since my old OS was Ultimate, do I HAVE to purchase the 10 Pro, or can I still just get 10 Home?

3.  Is there a free download or something available that I'm missing?

4.  In terms of the actual upgrade, do I need to have media to download the ISO to?  Or can I just download it like a file and run it?  It's been a long time since I've ever done an OS upgrade, not sure on the specifics.
