MS Edge taking ownership of my Word files

Windows 10

Asked by: bjeaston123

I am editing my word 2013 files and making changes prior to book publication.

When I access the same files later, they are stored as Edge web files, not as docx files, and my changed settings have been altered.

Why? This is causing me days of extra work and I am fed up with it happening.

Thank you for being part of Windows 10.

The issue seems to be with file association. I would request you to change the file associations and see if it helps.

a: Press Windows key.

b: Then type default programs and hit enter.

c: Then click Associate a file type or protocol with a program.

d: Now navigate to .docx file and then click Change program and make it Word 2013

Do get back to us for any issues pertaining in the future. We will be happy to help.
