I have apps added to the task bar. Among them are Word2016, Excel2016, and OneNote2016. I just started up my computer and all of the items in the Word jump list are gone. The ones for all of the other apps on the Task bar are OK. I set the JumpListItems_Maximum in RegEdit to 40 when the post first appeared. Until now I've had no problems.
Hello, I have a complaint I would like to share with the Microsoft team regarding the Natick, MA store. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I made an "appointment" with the help desk to find out why my charger for my Surface Pro 3 was no longer working. I walk into the store and am not greeted by who appeared to be the "greeter" so I greet him and inform him I am here for my appointment. Once at the help desk a woman (whom I believe had a manger type role) took my charger to check it on her surface, and then continued chatting with a coworker. A couple minutes goes by and another male employee asks if I need help. I inform him of what I am here for and tell him the woman took my charger. She proceeds to tell him that it does not work (why could she not tell me that?). After checking my warranty which expired in April and since I did not purchase the extended two-year warranty he informs me my option is to purchase a new one for the $80. I ask him to go speak with his manager because I do not want to pay for that as I am a college student and my surface is not even two years old and the quality should be better than that. He goes to speak with the woman I originally dealt with (mind you right in front of me so I can blatantly see them talking about me) and tells me he can do 10%. Thanks buddy for giving me the student discount I already should have been offered. I tell him that is unacceptable and anytime I have had issues with my Apple products they always are extremely helpful, pleasant, and most importantly useful. Apple takes care of their customers for free in my experience. I then ask him if he can test out which part of my charger is the issue since it is in two pieces. Why I had to ask him to do his job was beyond me. After he finally did his job, I found out the issue was only the cord. He informed me of a website I could get the cord because Microsoft does not sell that one piece. During all of this going on, another coworker turned and gave me a dirty look because I was unsatisfied and voicing it. Finally, I leave the store extremely unsatisfied after my hour commute to get there. I begin doing some research online and found out the piece of the cord I had the issue in was recalled!! How could these employees not be aware of this recall and try to charge me for a brand-new charger? I made a point to call the store to inform them that the exact issue I had with the cord was recalled. The gentleman on the phone Randy, told me that it is an older recall so not all employees are aware of it. He then proceeded to say that I should have two chargers, one for my bag and one for at home. So, Randy what you are saying is your product is so cheap that it won't be durable enough for any travel? I will have to tell Microsoft to add that to there marketing campaigns. I am appalled at the customer service/lack of knowledge at this Microsoft store. I was pushing my dad to getting the Surface Pro and now I told him it is worth the extra money to purchase an Apple product because you know the customer service will be excellent. I may not have been pleasant when I left but it gives the employees no right to be uneducated and rude at their jobs. I’ve worked in the customer service industry for 10 years and how this store operates is disgraceful.
Last Wed (11 Jan or so), after, apparently, a Win10 Update, THREE of my computers here at the house got hung up on the Win Update like this. Long story short, I had to REINSTALL Win10 Pro on my development machine (AFTER installing a new 1GB HD which was trashed and AFTER letting the computer stay on ALL NIGHT) and REINSTALL Win10 Home on my wife's machine. I have had TWO customers of mine suffer the same problem. A co-worker had the same problem...and my father-in-law in had the same problem. MICROSOFT ARE YOU LISTENING? FIX YOUR DAMN UPDATE ISSUES WITH WIN10! That's SEVEN computers I have had to fix because of your POS update crap and of the seven, FOUR needed an new Win10 OS install!!! REALLY?? I'm so angry I could spit nails.... FIX IT!!!
I can not uninstall pckeeper either through system apps or by the control panel. Web pages now show'' not responding'' with the option of page reset. There were several pckeeper apps that were showing. Two uninstalled(stubbornly) with multiple tries. The last(installer 2.2.2299) will not. I tried going to a community recommended site for help. It froze up.
Hi Microsoft Community, I have spoken to one of the technicians today, they have tried everything and last case would be a system reset which my company IT department is not encouraging me to do, due to the major work in re-setting all my apps, etc. Any other solution? Tested? I am very frustrated.............to say the least!
After an initial boot, when I go to Settings>Update and Security>Windows Insider Program, it says I am set to receive insider downloads on the fast track. If I close out the Settings window, then several minutes later, reopen it to the Windows Insider program I get a message that says there is a problem and a "fix it" selection appears. When selected, it says it cannot be fixed. When I reboot, it appears to fix the problem but after a few minutes, the problem reappears and the Windows Insider Program is not available. This sequence is repeatable, i.e. the first try after a reboot works fine, but the second try several minutes later fails to produce the Windows Insider Program availability Please provide a solution as I have been an Insider for over a year and would like to continue to use that capability
I love the Xbox one but a game that can't get for the Xbox one (because I don't have a computer that lets me download it) that I would really love would be Terra Tech. Does anyone know if they have any plans on adding it the Xbox store. Moved from Internet Explorer
I think this is by far the most annoying operating system you've ever made Microsoft. Congrats. I don't know how you did it but somehow you managed to beat Windows Millenium Edition in that regard. I've had so many issues with Windows 10, I can't even remember all of them. But after the Anneversary Update, it's in another dimension. The settings and features which were there before the AU are missing. I have several issues and I'm gonna go over them one by one. I think the worst part is the Windows Update. I have a terrible connection. It's 7Mbps DL to 0.70Mbps UL. At peak hours I have 4 Windows 10 machines running at the same time on this connection. I also play online games. So imagine this, I'm on my computer playing Competitive Overwatch then all of a sudden, without any warnings whatsoever, all of those 4 machines start doing Windows Update ("Updates from more than one place" thing is disabled). My match is gone at that point. I lose competitive points because I have no means to delay those update downloads. Back in Windows XP and 7, I always set Windows Update options to "Let me know when there are updates and let me choose when to download and install them". I'm okay with updates. I like to keep my machine up to date but after Windows 10, your "I'M GONNA SHOVE THOSE UPDATES DOWN YOUR THROAT" mentality took that away completely. Look where I live, 80 percent of the country is using this connection. We also have unbelivable data caps (I'm talking about 50gigs per month sort of caps). Not everybody has a spotless connection as you may think. I would love to have a choice in the matter. I'd like to choose when to download and install those updates but no. There's no option to do that with Windows 10. A few days ago I was uploading a work related video with my lovely 7 / 0.70Mbps connection. I started it from my Media Server (which is running 24/7 and has Win 10 but no Anniversary Update) and then I stopped using my connection. Played some games offline, did some rendering, watched some movies etc. After 2 hours I decided to check my Laptop. I opened the lid and saw that it was 50 percent done. Then I went to the bathroom. I came back and what I saw ruined my day. It was restarting to apply updates. It didn't even bothered to warn me. It just restarted. I waited that slow machine to apply those updates. Waited for several restarts. I was preparing to leave the house up to that point. Eventually Windows boot up and I fired up Firefox. Logged in to my youtube account again and started the update. Usually when you stop a upload and continue uploading in 24 hours, you can continue from the point you left but this time, this wasn't the case. It started uploading from the beginning. I had to upload that video in 1 hour. It had to be done. Ironically my phone has faster connection than my landline connection (15 to 3) but has 4 gigs of data cap. I connected my media server to my phone and started the upload with my phone connection. I was going to leave the house but I had to wait for the upload to finish. It messed up my day in a big way. After the update I had 300megs of data left so I purchased extra data. You are literally costing me money running your operating system Microsoft. Get real. Come back to the real world! Go visit some other countries and spend some time with terrible connections. Get some perspective. Okay let's talk about the Sleep issue now. After Windows 10 (this used to happen before the AU by the way) my computer keeps waking up randomly if it's connected to the network (I came to that conclusion after unplugging everyting from the system and plug them back in one by one to identify the cause). I'll list the things I've done: - Disabled Wake on Lan from BIOS (latest BIOS by the way) - Disabled Network cards ability to wake the computer up from power settings and device manager - Checked what's causing the wake with the "powercfg /lastwake" command. It says "Fixed Feature Power Button" but I'm not pressing anything - Checked if there's a wake timer with the "powercfg /waketimers". Nothing there. I cannot find a solution to this problem. I put my computer to sleep and go to bed. I wake up and find my computer running, power cycling the entire night. It even happens when I put it to Hybernation. Again Microsoft, you're costing me money. And, when it wakes up, it sends me back to the login screen. I don't have a login password. I used to go directly to my desktop after a wake but eversince I added a password and removed it, this is the case. I looked at the settings, spend like half an hour but I couldn't find the option to disable it. It used to be under the "Define power buttons and turn on password protection" in power options (the old control panel) but since the AE, that option is gone. How do I know this? This is my main machine (with Anniversary Update) And this is my media server (without AU) There was another article pointing to the Sign-In options from the new settings panel but that option is gone in Anniversary Update too. What are you doing Microsoft? What are you up to? I'm about to go back to Windows 7. I was really excited about DX12 because I'm a gamer but we all know how that turned out right? There are handful of games that truely support DX12 and they run worse in DX12 with Nvidia cards. There is no benefit in running Windows 10. It's causing more trouble than being a productive operating system. This is the full specs of my system.
I bought a Win 10 Home in Dec 2016. Had a bit of trouble replacing my XP version. Got help from Microsoft. Win 10 now on PC but every now and again just freezes. Have to reboot. Annoying! Have tried a number of the suggestions but nothing seems to work. What now.

I grabbed up my phone to pair with my PC. The phone detected my PC's bluetooth but it wasn't able to pair. Soon I got a message asking me to restart my PC for solving the driver issues. I restarted and now this is all I get: Sometimes when I switch the USB ports, the device is detected and a "Bluetooth Generic Adapter" is also installed but my PC fails to detect any of my devices(I had even tried placing the phone near to the adapter to clear the range issue out of the question). Please solve this issue quickly. PS: I tried updating the driver via Device Manager and restarted the Bluetooth Support Service and still no luck.
When I was on internet, a big popup came up saying like "Alert - someone is using your IP address to do suspicious activities. Call this number to get support" and I could go anywhere unless I clicked "OK" button in the popup. So I called the number, 844-283-9465. Someone answered the phone, and told me to follow his instruction to fix the problem. He told me to press the microsoft key and r key together. Then a small screen showed up at the left bottom corner. He then told me to type "assist.me" or something. I did. Then a screen showed up with blank space. He gave me a "code" to type into that space. Then, he suddenly took control of my computer screen. I could see him downloading information of my computer. I asked him what he was doing, he just kept repeating he was trying to fix my problem. I could not trust what he was doing, so I shut down my computer and plug out my internet and hang up the phone. I knew he got information from my computer already. I don't know what he got, so I tried to change important passwords, and cleared all the history from my browser. What else should I do to protect myself?
