Windows 10 - how do i setup an external hard drive? - never done it before

Windows 10

Asked by: William (bigwbb)

Hi, I'm sure many of you will find the following very basic but I really don't know where to start. I have tried finding the info via the net but didn't have much luck - most of the articles said that the best option is to use some third-party software. I find this hard to accept in today's market.

I have a 2TB drive that I wish to use for backups...

Do I connect it to my modem/router via usb?

If so and when that is done, where do I go from there?

Will it show up when I go into 'This PC' and will it show up in the backup/restore window?

Hopefully this is any easy one for you guys.

Thanks, William
