Windows 10 reports "invalid value for registry" when trying to open video files

Windows 10

I have been running Windows 10 for about a month now with no major issues but starting today I get an "invalid value for registry" error every time I try to open a video file. I have no trouble using applications like Nero or Media Player Classic to play the files but Windows  Movies & TV will not play the files. I have tried running sfc /scannow in an admin command prompt and no errors were found.
