Feature update failing on build 10586.33 (1511)

Windows 7

Error displayed in Windows update: • Feature update to Windows 10 Enterprise, version 1607 - Error 0x8024a205 Error on three machines (VM5.5) that I use to test updates prior to rollout via SCCM 2012. 1. I have restarted machines and retried the update. 2. I have run sfc /scannow 3. I have downloaded and run the windows update troubleshooter, which found and repaired problems (Windows Update database corruption) - report and logs generated. 4. Machines now report as up-to-date, but still fail to download and install the feature update (eventually redisplay error). 5. Other updates correctly report as installed. I need to push this to over 300 physical machines, so any help here would be very much appreciated. Scotty!

Windows 10 DVD player app

Windows 7

After the last Win 10 update my DVD player app (included with my Win7 upgrade) stopped working. It says that no playable files are found. VLC does play the same discs on the same hardware. Is there any way to re-install this app (without purchasing a new copy)?

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Windows 7

Okay, so I decided to factory restore my beloved Acer Aspire 7540 back to factory default as it was running slowly and I thought it would help. Everything has been fine since, except for the fact that every few hours of continuous use it freezes randomly and I get no sound and the only way to restart the machine is to press the power button. Not good for the laptop I know. Until the other day I thought I'd wait it out and I eventually got a BSOD saying that the PC ran into a problem and gave me the error code DPC_WATHCDOG_VIOLATION. With a quick google and a little bit of forum scrolling I saw the "fixes" that people had posted where I update my drivers, so I followed suit and it seemed to fix it... for about a day, then every couple/three hours the computer crashes, the same error code pops up and it hasn't worked. I'm really unsure what to do. I was thinking of downgrading back to Windows 7. However I type in my product key on the back of the laptop and it is unaccepted by Microsoft's system when checking. I can't revert it after doing the system restore either! Someone please help! Included is a list of the laptops specs and the device manager tab.

Toshiba 55 inch TV -NO sound to TV from Computer

Windows 7

I posted this problem in another forum but I did not like the answers. I think I am very close. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3290616/dvi-dual... I have a HP 6000 pro computer with Display port out. I can get picture by selecting the 55 inch Toshiba as the default in the "display" settings in control panel. But in the "sounds" setting in playback devices I cannot see the Toshiba TV as a choice. It has no icons and all I see is "speakers" to select as a default. With the TV on I shut down the computer and restart and repeat to the same failed result. I have a Display port to HDMI adapter end to a HDMI_HDMI cable. If the cable transmits video to the TV okay it should sense the TV as a device right? I am using a dp cable out which converts to an hdmi connector without any electronics such at the dp/hmdi adapter. the hdmi end then plugs into a hdmi switcher box .... then out from that to the TV. I don't think I am losing any sound data over this conversion . the switch box travels audio and video from the bluray ok. are there any other experiences from other users? ( in the below process steps I cannot complete step 5. I have no icon for the TV) You can indeed get your cmputer to send the audio through the minidisplayport. But it is a two step prcess. 1. Connect your adapter, (minidisplayport to HDMI), to your computer and then connect the HDMI cable between the TV and adapter. 2. Turn on TV (if it is not already on). 3. The TV now shows the video and the computer plays the sound. 4. Gotot Control Panel -> Sound. 5. Now you will see your TV as a playback device. Right click the TV and select "Set as Default Device" 6. Wola! Your TV now plays the sound as well. I have downlaoded an real tek Audio HD driver from Real tek but it makes no difference to seeing an icon. There are no drivers from Tosbia TV available as this is a computer problem not a Toshiba problem. If I travel to control panel hardware and devices I can see my printers, network drive etc. I also see my Toshiba 55 listed. I check its DRivers to see it is using a Generic PnP driver. This is the same result for another Tv/computer combo of mine using vga. I just don t know what im missing here. can anyone help? Windows7 vga/display port out all on board ports

Action Center constantly pops up as soon as I use the mouse

Windows 7

I have a touchscreen laptop but whenever I'm using the mouse on the keyboard, within a slightest touch, the Action Center pops up. It doesn't matter how many times I clear it, it keeps popping up as soon as I touch the keyboard mouse. It's extremely annoying. I already disabled it under notification, under regedit & it just won't go away. Someone please help!

KB3205386 / KB3210721 We couldn't complete the updates, Undoing changes, Don't turn off your computer

Windows 7

Hi, Sometime late last year (I can't remember when this started) I had a Windows Update that automatically installed and it resulted in an error. This has continued until now and I have been avoiding fixing due to time restrictions it but now must be rectified. In my update history the failing updates are listed as KB3205386 and KB3210721. The problem occurs as follows: 1. Windows update installs the update and requires a restart - If I try to shut down the computer it will install the update and restart. 2. The restart configures the update up until 95-100% (not sure which number it stops at). 3. The screen then says "We couldn't complete the updates, Undoing changes, Don't turn off your computer" Steps 2. and 3. take a long time, I haven't timed it precisely but I would estimate 2-3 hours. I cannot shut down my computer without going through this process and the other day Windows scheduled the installation and I was not able to change the scheduled time. I have read many forums trying to solve this and have conducted a number of processes to solve this problem: Viewed the Installed Updates and uninstalled both KB3205386 and KB3210721.Run Command Prompt as Administrator and entered: net stop bitsnet stop wuauserv Opened the Services console and Disabled and Stopped Windows UpdateBrowsed to C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution folder and deleted all the files and folders insideDownloaded the stand-alone package for both updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog website, saved into C:updatesDisabled my internet connectionIn msconfig (System Configuration) Services tab disabled all non-Microsoft servicesRestartedRun Command Prompt as Administrator and entered: wusa.exe C:updates[updatefilename].msu Waited for installation, installation says it is finished and requires a restart.Click to Restart.Check the update history, it displays that the update failed. At this point the same process occurs in steps 2. and 3. of the error listed at the beginning of this post. I have tried KB3205386 first and then KB3210721. Neither have worked. If anybody has suggestions where to go from here it would be highly appreciated.

Activation failed for legit Windows 7 Ultimate

Windows 7

I bought a used laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate (4 yrs. old), and it's licensed already. For some reason, it says I have 26 days to activate it. Is that because SP1 was installed as an update? When I tried to do it, I was told it is INVALID!!! Obviously, it is an error. I do not want to buy WIN8, and I missed out on FREE WIN10 evidently. What do I do?
