Please help this Grandmother!!! For 4 months, I haven't been able to "forward" articles to anyone. When I.....

Windows 7

.....choose the "e-mail" envelope option that is offered at the beginning of most articles (along with Twitter, Facebook, etc.), a box pops up saying that I ("Carol E." cannot send or receive e-mails." I have a Windows 7 laptop, but converted to Windows 10 months ago. I'm using Windows Live Mail, but can't get an answer on their site. HOW CAN I CHANGE THIS??? THANX SO MUCH!

Occasional freeze at shut down, then boot problems, now a restore problem.

Windows 7

Not sure where to start execpt I wish I never upgraded to win 10 about 6 months ago, I was fine on 8.1 or even 8.0 Anyhow about 3 months ago it would not boot so I had to reinstall windows (I don't think there was a restore point I could see) I think I also reinstalled windows about a month and 2 weeks, ago due to same issue. Since then I have wise up to the fact it is easier to have a restore point, a lot quicker and less stuff to restore. Anyhow I think this is my third restore this year, worse still it gave an error unspecfied error 0x800070002 indeed I might have had the error (think the message said system restore failed?) on a pervious restore but not quite noticed it. Anyhow the error did not prevernt windows running and indeed I am posting from that machine now. However I am a worried poster for obvious reason as my machine seems to be on the brink. A few other things, on one of the windows re-install I was kind of forced to create a Administors account, dunno why as my other acocun it admin anyway. I also have more two restore points, the first was created right after a windows re-install, the second, which was the one I used on the last failure was a later one so I guess that one may not be as "fresh". I also noted some error in log, permissions ones ie The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {8D8F4F83-3594-4F07-8369-FC3C3CAE4919} and APPID {F72671A9-012C-4725-9D2F-2A4D32D65169} Seems these are failly common. A lot of it is related to the "new stuff" presumable ie all the money making stuff, adverts and stores??? Anyhow I could kind of go on forever about the details, but will just chuck in few more things, the system file checker found a problem DISM could not repair. "windows resource protectiuon found corrupt files but is unable fix some 'windows' is not recognisabled as an internal or external; " DISM error 1726 remote procedure call failed (the thing suggested in a "fix" *is* running). So that's a kind of "overview" or the being of the problem and of course when you look into any Windows problem you find there are layers of problems beneath or the solutions generally do not work I am runnig the Home Edition of win 10. So what is the problem, the system runs fine but occsaionally freezes at shut down, require a power off and possible file corrution on reboot due to the power off? I have fast startup off to try and help but I might be better off with it on. The is lots of more I could write, it has failed to wake from sleepa few time, lots of disk thrashing but nothing else. WHY should it fail at shutdown when it has BEEN RUNNING FOR HOURS OK? It does not make sense, I mean I tried quiting out of every thing before shutting dow to make it easy but it seem as if it makes it work, spinng progress disk just freeze, and that is it game over! So any ideas? I am not really famillar with hacking about as I used to be when running win 98 which had constant problems. How come everything else seems to work bar a core basic parts of windows??? (apoligies if this post is riddle with grammer and typing errors etc.)

Font sizes in Win 10 Pro

Windows 7

Hi, I have recently upgraded to Win 10 Pro on my PC and am having problems with the font sizing. I have used the display advanced settings to set the system scaling to 125% and the desktop and traditional desktop applications such as Outlook 2010 display at a perfect size. Some of the Win 10 Apps such as Whatsapp also display at a similar and convenient font size. However, the integrated Win 10 system apps such as Calendar and Mail and other Win 10 Apps such as Facebook Messenger display with large clumsy font sizes. e.g. in Calendar the font size is so large that I am unable to display enough lines of the calendar to make it useful (typically can only see 6hrs of the day). If I change the system scaling to 100% the Calendar, Mail and Messenger apps display at a much better size, but the fonts in everything else such as the desktop, start menu, and other apps and traditional desktop applications become too tiny to read comfortably. I have tried playing with Display settings, customizing font sizes for individual things such as menu bars, etc. but this doesn't seem to achieve what I am looking for. Does anyone know if there is a any way to change the settings of these apps independently of each other so that both the desktop/traditional desktop apps, and the new Win 10 Apps can be displayed at a consistently similar font size throughout? Thanks

Can't Access the internet on certain applications.

Windows 7

I'm using a Gateway NV570P touchscreen laptop and I can download apps from the window's app store, but can't connect to their servers(i.e Asphalt Xtreme, discord, and Nexon launcher). For some odd reason, I can log in and run my WTFast app(custom VPN). I've tried several methods from proxy, command prompts to troubleshooting, yet I still can't find any solutions. Can anyone help?

Shutdown/Restart button does the opposite of what they are supposed to do.

Windows 7

About a month or so ago, I did a reset using the media creation tool https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10, because I was having issues performing a Windows 10 refresh. The reason that I decided to do a refresh is because I was having keyboard/touchpad issues as I mentioned here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/keyboard-is-messed-up-after-kb3194496-cumulative/b41687b4-a3cf-4f6e-b6ce-20ffe7d5f636 After I completed the system reset, I noticed that the restart button shuts off my computer, and the shutdown button does not shut off my computer; it just hangs there. What could be causing this? My keyboard/touchpad issue seem slightly better than it was, but now I'm wondering why the shutdown/restart buttons are doing the opposite of what they are supposed to do after using the system recovery media creation tool. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

Calendar app with timezone support for Windows 10

Windows 7

Hello!! I hope someone can help me: I am a digital nomad, and work with people from many diferent timezones. Sometimes in their country they have two or more timezones, and it is really hard for me to keep track of their time. In my old iPhone, I can add in my calendar a date, time, and choose the timezone just searching for a city/country. It works perfectly! But untill now, I could not find a Windows calendar that does the same, so I can just ditch the iPhone for a Windows Phone. Any tips? I don't mind to buy an app - if it works fine! Thanks!
