Should my firewall be responding to pings?

Apparently my Linksys n router is replying to pings.  If I turned off my Windows Firewall, would
it stop replying?
do not turn off your firewall.  It's not involved with the pings.  You may be able to set the Linksys to stop replying, but you'll have to read their manual, or ask them...  And, if the 'n' in linksys n router means wireless-n ( the 802.11n standard) it's a relatively new router and provides (or should provide) SPI, and pretty effective firewall protection (NAT...) all by itself.  I think you are well protected... but if the pings are too fast, you could see slow performance.
