Homegroup/Sharing problems

Windows 8.1

I am running Windows 10 and I evidently set up a homegroup account somewhere along the line, but a family member had not been added. I added my husband tonight. I went back to set-up homegroup/sharing with my husband's name and it tells me I have already set up a homepage account and I had a choice to "join now" or "cancel." I clicked on "join now" and the next screen explains about sharing, and a "next" button, which then brings me to the screen that asks what files want to be shared. I click "next" and it brings me to the screen asking for a "homepage password." What is that password? Is it my Microsoft account # or a different password? I entered my Microsoft account # and the error message came up "windows no longer detects a homegroup on this network. To create a new homegroup, click OK." Do I have a homegroup as it said originally, or don't I and need to set one up? Basically all I want to do is to be able to get into my husband's documents, etc from my computer and he can get into mine from his computer. P.S., I'm really unhappy with the windows 10 and would like to go back to an older version of windows. (My laptop came equipped with Windows 10...am I stuck with it?)

Gaming on Windows 10

Windows 8.1

Hi Microsoft, My name is Thomas. I am a gamer and i have a complainant about the whole windows 7 Vs windows 10 game compatibility. First of all, windows 10 is "supposedly" the best windows at the moment, but iv asked a lot of people and nearly all have said that windows 7 was far more likable and user friendly then windows 10. I also asked a lot of my friends about whether or not windows 10 was better for gaming then windows 7 and let me say, ALL of them said that windows 10 ruined gaming for us gamers that upgraded to windows 10 because we though that windows 10 was far more compatible and more game advanced then any other OS, but of cause we were wrong. Iv asked a few people about how they solved some problems with the games not being compatible with windows 10 and most of them said that they downloaded some software and other programs just to run the dam games. I also asked how the people who found that they wanted to go back to windows 7 felt when they found that after a month the windows 7 folder was deleted leaving them with windows 10, a lot of them said that it was a load of Rubbish. Because of this i would like to ask that for a limited time, anyone who wants to downgrade back to windows 7 can do so for free like we can with downloading windows 10. If u can not do this, UPGRADE WINDOWS 10 SO THERE IS A GAMING UPGRADE LIKE HOW THERES WINDOWS 10 PRO AND HOME PREMIUM! I Know that you will just read this and do nothing so i'm asking anyone that agrees with me to reply to this post with yes, this will show you just how many people are struggling to play games on windows 10. Thank you, Thomas Brown

how do I update windows 7 home premium to windows 10 while replacing the hard drive?

Windows 8.1

To all the experts out here.... I have a laptop with windows 7 home premium, and the hard drive is failing. Have purchased a solid state drive, but how do I go about updating to windows 10 after I install the new drive? Guessing there would be an easier way than re installing windows 7, then upgrading to 10.... I also don't have the original windows installation discs, was bought from Harvey Norman and to the best of my memory never came with on... I tried downloading and creating a bootable usb for windows 10, but when I chose usb over burning a cd it claims it couldn't detect a usb drive(which was plugged in and running....checked in 'my computer'...) Thanks, Dave

Dell Inspiron 5558 Windows 10 Touchscreen Not Working

Windows 8.1

I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 Windows 10 Signature Edition that I bought from the Microsoft Store. I bought this for Black Friday 2015, now I know I'm posting this a little late and thats because i was searching for answers on the Internet.... Anyways THE TOUCHSCREEN of this laptop isnt working. I have gone into Device Manager but there is NOT a tab for touch, touchscreen. in settings it says nothing abot touchscreen only the keyboard and touchpad. I have tried troubleshooting that also doesnt work. Basically I have tried all the obvious options. Please tell me a way i can fix this. and Dell also doesnt have any touchscreen drivers on their website. I am sure this laptop is touchscreen because the touch was working until June 2016, and it also says HD Touchscreen on the box... Thanks

Another windows explorer crash on windows 7

Windows 8.1

I'm having a pretty frustrating issue where windows explorer crashes on startup and won't even allow me to pull up the start menu. It does this in normal and in safe mode. I've attempted sfc in command prompt but it gives me errors stating that it can't run. I can't even get the computer to run my original windows 7 disk without booting from it and I can't reinstall windows if I am booted from the disk. Also attempting to system restore and windows repair via the disk failed as well. No clue how to get this to stop. Any ideas?

File History Interferes with networked NAS file access

Windows 8.1

When I have Win10 File History backup turned on I can no longer listen to music or other media located on my NAS without interuptions. Access to the NAS directories and files slow down dramatically. This began sometime in the last couple months, presumably after one of the Win10 updates. The File History backups reside on my NAS, as do my media files. This is a ReadyNAS from Netgear. It has run well for years, including with File History in earlier Win10 versions as well as Win8. If I turn off the File History it will after several minutes resume normal operation. Turn File History back on and again it bogs down.
