Windows 7 won't update.

Windows 8

weeks ago i installed a new windows 7 on my new laptop, after the installation the system was empty, it had 0 installed things on it, i even didn't had internet, i did install some drivers, but there were soo many and some want others and other want ones to even get installed. It was a mess and time consuming, then i decided to update windows with the update center and it may even download some drivers that i need. For my surprise windows won't update, its stuck on searching for updates and just won't do anything. At the time my windows wasn't activated so i thought that this was the problem, today i FINALLY found the reg key and windows is activated, but the update center just wants to play "watch me loopin' this green light FOREVER". Before all of this i have installed many packs, drivers, fixes, even i tried stuff in cmd and changing proxies in IE, nothing! everything loops their loading bars like it's a gif on the internet and if i let them do it till new year i bet that it will stay the same. Now i did search for familiar questions in this forum and i found a guy with the same or familiar with my problem with a answer tagged helpfull from several people, he suggests to update my update center it was something like that, but 1st of all, his link directs me to a page that just shows details about the software and no download link, then i searched if i can find it by its name somewhere else, i did find it finally, actually i found 4 links for system x blabla windows packs and windows server updates, 2 of the download links do not exist and 2 of them search an actual update on my computer that i currently don't have cause my windows hasn't been updated, now at this moment how i'm writing this message one of them is "trying" to atleast start forking or i just have another window with a looping loading bar with no result at all. I just wish to make my computer usable, now i can only use the internet and cannot use anything else on it, i'm struggling with this computer for 5 months now and i can't take this anymore.

Windows 8

Folks I'm in Windows 10 using office 365 and have recently had this error message on attempting to start Outlook... "Cannot start Microsoft outlook. the command line argument is not valid. verify the switch you are using." I have attempted to start in safe mode and get same. Have used resetnavpane and this is not working either. I'm finding outlook2016 unstable as having to fix every 3 months or so! What the heck is going on?

Optical drive not present in explorer

Windows 8

I have an ASUS X52N laptop (although the mobo says it is a K52N) and I took the free upgrade to Win 10 and after a few driver problems, the most troublesome being the display, it is all working OK although there are a couple of Base System Devices that haven’t installed. I have been using it for quite a while without problems until I tried to use the DVD drive and it isn’t showing in Win 10. It was working in Windows 7 previously. So I investigated, as you do, and the DVD was present in device manager but not recognised as an optical drive. Emailing ASUS was a waste of time as all they would say was the drive was broken and should be replaced, even when I told them I could boot from the drive into Linux and from a Windows install disk. I bought a USB DVD drive so that I would have a drive should I need it and it doesn't show this one in explorer either, although it is in device manager. I have tried the articles I found on the Web about Win 10 and DVD drive problems, none of which seem to help me with this problem. When I boot with the Hieren’s CD into Mini XP I can see the drive and it works fine, Win 10 just doesn’t like it.

Identifying differences between two almost identical manuscripts, using Word (Office, student version, end of December 2016)

Windows 8

I work on a manuscript with several authors contributing. Now I want to identify changes in the current version that have been made since the former. I have heard that Microsoft has a program scanning two manuscripts and subsequently marks any difference between two (manuscript) versions. Can you guide me, please (in a manual-like manner)? Best greetings, Øivind Klaastad
