Reinstall preinstalled windows 8

Windows 8

Asked by: chiz130

I have some corrupt system files, I've done a few things to try and fix the issue but I had no luck. Eventually decided to try refreshing the pc, didn't work, then tried the 'remove everything and reinstall windows' option which also didn't work. I'm assuming some of the files it installs windows from must be corrupt so I'm guessing I'm going to have to reinstall windows. The only problem is windows came preinstalled so I don't have the disks and I don't know the activation key, apparently it's embeded in the bios or something.

I'd appreciate any help I can get!

Hi Chiz,

Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) computer manufacturers are required to provide at least one way for you to reinstall Windows if you buy a computer with Windows pre-installed  your computer should have included either a restore partition on your hard drive, or Windows install/restore disks. Microsoft has no control over which is included and unfortunately most only supply a restore partition.

If you have the restore partition check you r manual for how to reinstall Windows 8. Or, contact the OEM computer manufacturer and ask them to send you an install disk for your computer. If they agree to send you one they may charge a small fee.

Hope this helps!
