I have two windows 10 computers (one is pro and the other is home) and I have been trying to add a new user to both these computers for the last few days. It is adding the new user but when I try to sign in with the new ID, I am getting an error that the user profile service failed the sign in. I looked at various suggested solutions on the community but none are working. I am able to sign in with my old IDs without any issue. I am unable to login with a new ID (local or Microsoft ID) . I have tried removing and adding them multiple times. I deactivated anti-virus as suggested by someone, but it didn't help. Someone also suggested getting into regedit and changing the .bak into .ba or something like that, but there is no .bak file in the registry. Since the problem has suddenly come up on both my computers, I don't think it is a problem with my computers. Can someone please help? (I have to give access to my son for his school projects and I need to create a child account for him. Can't have him logging in with my ID and messing up my work files, you know....)
Like others I have experienced the message: User Profile Service failed the logon. If I try to logon on again (without closing Windows) I get same message over. However, if I do a hard power reset (ie hold power button and switch off PC before closing WIndows, then power back on) I can log in ok to my user profile. This pattern repeats and seems only way I can log back in successfully is by doing hard power reset (ie not closing Windows down properly). Any advice on this one?
I have looked everywhere trying to find a direct solution to this and no one seems to know. When I use disk cleanup in windows 10 pro to delete temporary internet files, it never deletes all the files. Right now I have 2.06 gigs that it shows I have stored SOMEWHERE. I have used several cleaners and tried deleting from the source ( the file itself shows no files in that folder). All this was done using admin privileges. Please, if someone knows anything about why it is like this I would appreciate a response. Could it be that the number showing in disk cleanup is not accurate? This number keeps growing by the way. When I first noticed this the number was at 1.35 gigs. Although I really haven't notice if it actually shows a decrease in my c drive space. Thank you
have this yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside the triangle on my WiFi on my desktop. it connects to the internet then automatically stops working then says No Internet, secured. i've tried everything i can think of. troubleshoot, i've also reset my laptop, looked for new drives but everything is up to date. it is annoying i go on Youtube or Netflix and it stops the streaming if i am playing a game online it does the same. it stays disconnected for about 5 mins i turn off wifi on the desktop then turn it back on but it doesn't do anything for long. it just stops working again as soon as i browse the internet. i have no idea what to do. i have a windows AMD 8.1 laptop hp but updated to windows 10. this has been going on for months now. i'd say roughly 4 months. i hope someone can help me. it's becoming very frustrating i can't do anything online anymore.
I would like to stop 1607 from being updated. The reason is that I have been using Linux as a primary OS since 2008, and there are report that part of Windows 10 "side effect" is simply delete Linux partition completely during the 1607 update. I am not talking about messing up boot loaders, that is expected, I am talking about completely deletion of Linux Partition. (I have disabled fastboot/hibernation/sleep in Windows a long time ago, windows 8 days, to make sure dual boot runs smoothly. Again, I've been doing this dual boot thing for 8 years, I am not exactly a newbie here.) I contacted Microsoft representatives and they simply denied the existence of this problem despite numerous reports from Linux community. And Microsoft has "assure" me that my Linux partition will be safe. If MS denied that this is a software bug, then, they have no reason to fix it. I put my wifi on "metered connection" to prevent update. Then, I went through Windows Update page and see list of updates. I made sure none of them were 1607 before I manually allow update to be downloaded. Then, next thing I know, after a reboot or two, update 1607 showed up. I am desperately want to stop this from downloading and installing. and so far I have not find a way to do that unless I cut off network connectivity completely. There are no option which I can hide certain updates. Is there a registry hack somewhere I can fool Microsoft from updating to 1607 and deleting my Linux Partition with impunity? Can I simply disable Windows update service in services.msc? I need more time to back up my Linux partition. May be this bug only effect certain type of BIOS/UEFI (again, open acknowledge of bug will be much assuring) ; but my harddrive has a complicated partition scheme and may be i will be effected; and more importantly, Microsoft has absolutely no incentive to keep a competitive product on the harddrive. Thanks in advance
When I put in a filename in the search box and then click the documents icon at the top to find results in documents, if the file is on OneDrive it opens in Edge browser instead of Office or pdf application on my computer. How do I turn this off and make the file open in, say, Excel or Word on my machine?
Title is self explanatory. a 3rd party software decided to delete my duplicate files but since i cant figure out which ones are deleted i need to restore. most of them are backup photos e.t.c. i try to open my recycle and select some files and restore selected but most of the time the process İs stuck at %0 and wont proceed. i have 6 HDD 's 2 SSD's on my system running on a i5 3570k/8g ddr3 ram i was just tryng to make some space on a ssd. I have a win 10 embedded touch screen panel pc. For ease of use I have the on screen keyboard running, but when I do and I open a specific piece of software, both apps stop responding and I the software does not load past its boot screen. If the on screen keyboard is not running, the software loads fine. Also, if the keyboard on the tool bar is running, the software boots up fine. It is inly if the ease of access keyboard is running that I have issues. Has anyone had any issues with this fault? Is there a way to find and fix the problem?
On windows 10 when I wish to adjust the volume on my PC when watching a video the volume indicator appears and the video blacks out briefly and then when the indicator disappears it does the same thing, blacks out and then comes back. I haven't had an issue until 2-3 weeks ago, updated as and when the system does. I think this bug needs to be reported and ironed out as it's very annoying.
