Frequent BSOD

Windows RT 8.1

Hello, I've been getting quite a lot BSOD's lately (for over a year actually), but now I've been writing down which error messages it gives. In the past few days I got: Kernel security check failure Faulty hardware corrupted age (2x) Critical process died (2x) System service exception (2x) System thread exception not handled The SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION said it failed at win32base.sys once and once at dxgmms2.sys. Specs: i5-4460 (cpu) Gigabyte G1.Sniper B5 (mobo) MSI Radeon R9 270X 2G Crucial Ballistix BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00CEU (RAM) Seasonic M12II Evo 520W (power) + ssd, hdd, cooler, case My question: Does anyone knows what might cause all these blue screens? I hope I gave enough info. Oh! I'm using Windows 10!

Storing Video MTS files.

Windows RT 8.1

Re Storage of Video MTS files on Windows 10. Want to download MTS files directly from my video camera or SD card to Hard Drive/C Drive/ Video file/my file. W10 does not register these at all and ignores them. Only want to store them for downloading to a Video Editor, not play them. I guess this is a problem with WIDOWS EXPLORER. Any help would be most appreciated. Ian

Windows Update stuck waiting on another windows process.

Windows RT 8.1

I started Windows Update today, and since the last hour, windows update is stuck at "Installing update 1 of 16..." phase. I checked using Resource Monitor and it says that it is waiting for another process called 'svchost.exe (LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation)' when I do analyse the wait chain. Here is a screenshot for the same. What can I do to move the update along? Can I "End Process" the 'svchost.exe (LocalServiceAndNoImpersonation)' process? It seems to be associated with 2 services that are also not showing any CPU activity. Can I stop those services to move Windows Update along? Here is a snapshot of the services: I am kinda on the clock here, because I am doing this to troubleshoot a BSOD I am consistently receiving, I have updated all the device drivers but BSOD still happened, and now I am updating Windows, and hoping it'd solve it. But there is always a danger the BSOD might strike in the middle of the update and I don't know how Windows will react to it. I have important data on this laptop and don't want to have to do a factory update in case of a botched update. Hoping someone here can help.

Pictures that appear when I turn my monitor on - how can I control these?

Windows RT 8.1

Ever since upgrading to Windows 10 a picture has appeared as background at the logging on stage. These photos seem to come from Windows or Microsoft and I want to be able to say which ones I like and to select one and keep it. Occasionally I get access to a black screen which asks me if I like the picture - but I can't see the picture I am supposed to commenting on. What is going on and please can any one explain how to select these pictures. thank you.

Cant open attachments in mail windows 10

Windows RT 8.1

I am using the "mail" app that came pre loaded on my computer with windows 10. when i go to open an e mail attachment ie, pdf, jpeg any type. I am required to download the file before i can open it. Some PDF files say it downloaded and then i cant even find the file. Why is this so difficult. I can go to an outside program like hotmail and preview the files right from the e mail without having to download them. How do i fix this? it is really slowing down my productivity. Thank you in advance for help! Tim

Wrong Capacity Shown! [Please Help]

Windows RT 8.1

I currently runned into some ransomeware which was a terrible time because all of my photos have been encrypted and this "hacker" tried to make me pay but I outsmarted him and went into Safe Mode, installed Malwarebytes and it runned its scan and removed the malware. I 100% recommend you guys use it if you run into a program that does that kind of stuff... Anyways my problem is that I fixed everything that the so called "malware" done to my computer and I cannot fix one problem. These are some screenshots of my problems! As you can see I selected all the files and found what the size of drive C: was which is 24.6GB but this is what it shows when i scan the disk: It says that it's 89.7GB, this is really confusing and if you guys have any ways I can fix this please help me. I think the "malware" changed the capacity so I won't be able to install anything or maybe made backups of windows with the malware on it so if I recovered it would still have it. I ain't really sure. If anyone can help please make a comment here! -nuRd#

SQL Server 2012 and Encrypting multiple Databases to turn TDE ON?

Windows RT 8.1

Since we have already encrypted the SQL Server to now be able to enable TDE on each database I need to know what else I need to do at this point to Alter about 80 SQL Databases to turn TDE ON each one. Note that 4 SQL Databases have it turned on and was done manually by simply running the statement below ALTER DATABASE SampleDB SET ENCRYPTION ON Just trying to validate that I can just create a line by line for each one and let it go and then check it with the statement I created below that validates that they are now have TDE ON. --This script was created to change all Databases to "Set to validate that TDE is turned on" -- No Variables to be used in the script USE master; GO SELECT db.name, db.is_encrypted, dm.encryption_state, dm.percent_complete, dm.key_algorithm, dm.key_length FROM sys.databases db LEFT OUTER JOIN sys.dm_database_encryption_keys dm ON db.database_id = dm.database_id; GO

Bluetooth issue on Windows 10 pc related to file transfers

Windows RT 8.1

Windows 10 home. Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.693) with all available updates applied. And, all of the Bluetooth devices in the device manager are updated as well. The goal: Transfer a file from my Galaxy S4 Android phone to my laptop (above) via Bluetooth. Or Transfer a file from my laptop (above) to my Galaxy S4 Android phone. Bluetooth is turned on. And my phone and the laptop are paired. I've read how it is supposed to work, but it doesn't quite work that way on my laptop. I click on "Settings/Devices/Bluetooth/Send or receive files via Bluetooth/Receive Files" I immediately get a Bluetooth File Transfer dialog that reads: "Windows was unable to transfer some file. An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used. To try again, click the Back arrow". First, the back arrow doesn't respond. It "blinks" when I click on it but it doesn't take me back to the previous screen. I have to hit the Cancel button. And I can repeat this failure as many time as I want. If I choose instead, to right click on the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and choose "Receive a file", I go directly to the failure message described above. I've started and stopped the the "Bluetooth Support Service" and made sure it was set to "Automatic". If I try to send a file, I get to choose the dive that is currently paired with the laptop, then I get to choose a file, but after clicking the "Next" button, I get the exact same failure message described above. I'm so confused. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
