internet problems after update

Windows RT 8.1

Asked by: edwardbello

I recently got a new windows update on either the 11th or the 12th and since then I'm unable to browse the web on any browser. Everytime I attempt to load up a webpage that isn't Google, I get an error saying the server's  DNS address can't be found,  troubleshooting says that "one or more network protocols are missing from this computer " which i don't know how to resolve.  I've tried countless things to fix the issue including flushing the DNS cache and attempting to revert back to windows 8.1(currently running windows 10) but nothing has worked thus far,  intrestingly enough online games work just fine,  the issue is with web browsing.  Doing a system restore provides a temporary solution but the problem always comes back. I need some advice on fixing this issue please. My drivers are all up to date btw and uninstalling the update didn't fix it either

Hi Edward,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused with Windows updates.

Please mention the troubleshooting steps(mention names like network troubleshooter, updating network drivers etc.,) that you tried to resolve this issue so that we can try other options to try and fix the issue.

Did you try the suggestions given by Jeremiah J. Isaacson on may 7 and Vanessa on (December 23rd) about a similar issue in the below links?

You may also follow the below steps and check.

1. Press Windows key + R and type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.

2. Expand the Network Adapter, select the device and Right click on it.

3. Select disable and click on yes.

4. Now you may re-enable the network device and check.

Hope the information helps. Do reply if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
