Just got a new computer and Microsoft Windows 10 is the operating system. The Microsoft Edge and Life at a Glance tiles in the Start up window where there when I started the computer and after re-starting it they are no longer present. The only thing I did in between was install Microsoft Office and change the default browser to Chrome. I have tried several fixes in the forums online and am looking for something definitive as none have resolved the issue so far. Any suggestions?
I'm running Windows 10 on an ASUS laptop. I have the power settings set to "do nothing" when the lid is closed. However, the display turns off when the lid is closed. When I reopen the lid, it immediately comes back up, and is not in sleep mode. But it prevents my security camera from recording when the lid is closed because it records based on the display on the screen. I've checked the Display and Power settings and everything appears correct. Is there a workaround or a setting that I'm missing?
I have a client with two incoming fax servers on Windows 7 using Windows Fax & Scan. These two machines are also on a weekly cycle for patch management which performs an automated reboot late Wednesday evening and again early Thursday morning to process updates. After the first reboot, the Windows Fax & Scan's auto answer settings revert back to the default of answering on 5 rings. This is too long as most incoming faxes disconnect after four. Looking through the Registry, I see a REG-DWORD under the Fax software entries for Rings = 2, but how is it resetting to 5 on a reboot? Can it be managed via a GPO to stay at 2?
Windows 10: Icons selected to appear on Taskbar keep resetting back to default selections after random period of timeWindows RT 8.1
Running Windows 10 Pro 1507 14393.693 When I select which icons I want to appear on the taskbar from 'Select which icons appear on the taskbar', I deselect 'Always show all icons in the notification area' then make my selections. These selections will remain in effect for hours or days but eventually my icon selections get reset back to off and just the default icons selections remain. This has happened repeatedly and each time I reset my selections and they get overridden again and again. If 'Always Show all icons...' is not selected, why are my manual selections being turned off by resetting the entry in this list to OFF. How do I prevent this from happening and why is this happening now, this isn't the way this feature worked in the past and this new behavior make no logical sense. If the system is going to decide what gets displayed then don't allow manual setting of preferences, if you allow preferences to be set then don't arbitrarily overwrite user selections. Is this a bug or poor User Interface behavior in Windows 10? This same configuration and usage does not reset selections in Windows 8 or 7 now or in the past as I have used expected behavior for years. This is happening on a Surface Pro 3 which doesn't have a lot of screen width compared to larger displays so I am guessing this happens when the system runs out of space along the taskbar with many apps open and decides to make the icon area smaller by resetting the display selections without prompting the user for permission and without any regard for the users need to see the selected icons for status rather than the tiny about of space freed up by turning off their preferences. You can select 'Show all Icons' but then you can't turn of any that don't show anything useful so it's all or nothing...
I am having an ongoing problem with an invalid ip configuration. My system has the update KB321386 available to remove but installed updates says that it is a failed update. I have unistalled it twice and attempted to download and reinstall but every time it fails to install properly. I am told that it contains the fix necessary to resolve my problems. How the **** do I get the fix if it wont install on my system? I know its a windows 10 problem! All non-windows devices are functioning fine on the internet that my windows 10 computer says is invalid and has no internet. I seem to be able to get on the internet via Ethernet"wired" connection even though my computer says there is no internet. Most of the time I have to reboot my router in order to get it to work! Everything was fine until mid December. I went to the trouble and expense of buying all new equipment thinking it was on my end. I even went so far as to insist that my internet provider install new wires and modem. Needless to say they are PO'd and so am I! Windows 10 an upgrade? **** no!
My computer will not reset, I have tried so many times and I've looked all over this website to find out what was going on, there is nothing like my situation that I found. I click on "Reset", then "Remove everything", then "Only where windows is installed" then I click "Just delete my files" then it says "There was a problem resetting your PC"

I have a new Dell Inspiron desktop with a wired keyboard and wired mouse. It has worked fine until Dell sent a BIOS update which I installed. I have password protected the log-in and I cannot type my password to access anything now. I tried booting in Safe Mode but the keyboard is still not working there. When I boot in the BIOS the keyboard is allowing me to scroll with the arrow keys and the F keys are responsive. I'm not sure where or how I can get the keyboard recognized. The mouse is working fine. I have tried a setting in the BIOS to return to the defaults, but that didn't work either. Can this be fixed without doing a system recovery? Can I do a system recovery without having to reinstall my software?
Hi there, I'm running Windows XP on a desktop in my shop for a program called PlasmaCAM. In all my past years of using this program, nothing has ever gone wrong. A couple days ago I went to use it again and when I clicked to open the program it told me "PlasmaCAM is already running" so I went into task manager, stopped the PlasmaCAM process and tried again. This time, the program opened for a split second then disappeared, almost like its opening off screen. I searched for answers and found that I could try to move it back onto the original screen, but the program is not appearing in the task bar. After toying around with it a little bit, when I try to open it, it gives me the error "Could not open PlasmaCAM because get_io.dll could not be found". I'm guessing "get_io.dll" is some file that runs the program. After some searching, I found the file but it would not let me open it. I'm stumped on what to do, I've tried logging on in safe mode and all. Any input as to what's happening/how to fix it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I should've been asked this question during the summer of 2016 but anyway in the summer of 2016 I caught a virus and after weeks of having it I was finally able to remove it but when I tried to use Microsoft edge nothing popped up it was just a blank screen, forcing me to get on internet explorer to download google chrome and to use that as my main browser but I want Microsoft Edge to work again, is there away to fix it? p.s I tried to uninstall but the access was denied and I needed permission from me (makes no since at all)
