Hi Sandra,
Welcome to Microsoft community and thanks for posting the question.

From your description, it shows that you would like to download pictures from the camera.
I would like to ask a question for a better understanding.

What is the make and model of the camera?

Please follow the instructions to get pictures from the camera to the computer.
Method 1:

a. Connect the camera to your computer by using the camera's USB cable.
b. Turn on the camera.
c. In the AutoPlay dialog box that appears, click Import pictures and videos using Windows.

By default, the folder name includes the date the pictures and videos are imported and the tag name.
e. Click Import (A new window opens and shows the imported pictures and videos.)

If the Auto Play Dialog box does not appear, follow Method 2

Method 2:

a) Press Windows Key + X on the start screen.
